NCCDP - Gold Standard in Dementia Education

 

As the number of confirmed cases of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) remain present across the United States, the NCCDP finds it necessary to offer our Seminars virtually via zoom for the forseeable future. THIS PERTAINS TO NCCDP CORPORATE CLASSES TAUGHT BY NCCDP CORPORATE TRAINERS. (For individuals signing up for a seminar conducted by NCCDP approved instructors, please check with the instructor presenting the seminar).

The following seminars will still take place on the day and time as scheduled, however, registered participants will receive detailed login instructions (which include needing a laptop/desktop and headset) to participate live/online.

For anyone wishing to attend the ADDC online seminars, due to the National crisis, there are no distance restrictions. Contact the listed online trainers who have seminars posted and register directly with the approved online trainer.

The NCCDP ADDC Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Seminars are open to anyone who works in long term care or is a caregiver.

Statistics prove that nearly 50% of the residents of long-term care facilities have been diagnosed with dementia/Alzheimer’s Disease. This number will continue to grow. The only way to provide successful dementia care is to understand the disease process and the significance behind the dementia-related behaviors.

Course Goals and Objectives:

Goals are:

  • To provide fundamental education on dementia and dementia care
  • To enhance the quality of life of dementia patients through education care providers
  • Foster sensitivity and respect for the dementia client
  • To teach communication techniques
  • To provide sensitive approaches for assisting patients with activities of daily living.

Participants will:

  • Have an understanding of dementia
  • Identify common causes of aggressive, repetitive, and sundowning behaviors in adults
  • Describe behavioral/care interventions that may be used to prevent or reduce difficult care situations.
  • Describe challenges related to caregiver stress and utilize stress reduction techniques
  • Learn alternative activity interventions that are success-oriented and failure-free
  • Receive a certificate of attendance in the seminar.

The NCCDP Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Seminars has been approved by the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners® and meets the criteria for those who qualify and are pursuing certification as a CDP Certified Dementia Practitioner.

Who Should Attend the NCCDP Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Seminar for First Responders:

Law Enforcement (city, county, state and federal), EMT’s, TSA Agents, Fire Fighters. The First Responder seminar can be booked privately and provided to your team only or check the calendar for a First Responder seminar or trainer near you. The CFRDT Trainer seminar is only presented by the NCCDP Corporate staff. You must have completed the CADDCT seminar first.

Times.
The First Responder seminar is 6 hours.

The CADDCT live seminar is 12 hours and is a prerequisite to the CFRDT trainer certification.

Registration Information: See the calendar for pricing. Generally, the CFRDT sets the price as the trainers do not work for NCCDP. The trainer generally charges 185.00 pp or a flat rate if this is an in-house seminar plus pp fee for the student handout notebook.

The First Responder seminar can be booked with a CFRDT trainer or directly with the NCCDP Corporate office.

CFRDT Certified First Responder Dementia Trainer certification. Because you are required to complete the CADDCT 12- hour live seminar as a prerequisite, there is no class for the CFRDT certification.

The course includes the First Responder six-hour Dementia curriculum on a memory stick, instructor manual, First Responder student handout notebook which includes the student's CFR-DT application. Certification as CFRDT
